Two face charges
linked to painkiller

HUBBARD — Police say they expect to file drug charges against additional people after charging two with peddling a painkiller. Kimberly Kale, 35, of 963 Woodland Ave., has been released from the Trumbull County Jail after being charged with possession of a dangerous drug — Vicodin. Jonathan Durig, 32, of John White Road, Hubbard Township, will be arraigned Tuesday in Girard Municipal Court on a charge of complicity to possession of dangerous drugs. City Patrol Officer Chris Moffitt said that the two were charged after a three-week investigation that continues. It started because neighbors complained to police of heavy vehicle traffic at Kale’s residence that led to a surveillance of her home. City police, Moffitt said, are being assisted by Hubbard Township police and the drug unit of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force.

Culvert work in Mespo

MESOPOTAMIA — State Route 87 between state Route 45 and state Route 534 in the township will close May 29 for a culvert replacement, says the Ohio Department of Transportation. Traffic will be detoured Route 534 to U.S. Route 322 to Route 45. The road will remain closed through mid-June. This work is part of a $5.3 million project to widen Route 87 and resurface the thoroughfare from just west of Route 534 to Route 45. This work will provide a wide shoulder for horse-drawn vehicles.
