Cheer Competition registration is open

YOUNGSTOWN — The Northeast Ohio Youth Football League is announcing open squad registration for their annual cheerleader competition.

The 2007 Cheer Competition will be Oct. 20 in the concert hall of Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue. Competition age groups will be divided by age as of July 31: ages 6-8, 9-10, 11-12. New this year, teams may prefer to register as competitive or noncompetitive squads per age/division.

Announcement is being made now so interested squads can contact Jennifer Cambouris, event coordinator, before the school year ends and summer begins.

Regardless of registration, all squads will perform in their designated session, one routine to include cheer and dance.

Dance or cheer-only squads may wish to enter as noncompetitive. Each team will be judged and scores distributed that day. Each team will receive a personalized team banner and pizza party on the day of competition. Each participant will receive a medal.

Competitive top squad scores one through four per age division, will have a “cheer off” for placement. Competitive team winners will receive placement award. Team registration fee will be $10 per participant and is open to any cheerleading squad affiliated with any pee-wee or youth football team.
