Chase, crash, charges

YOUNGSTOWN — A 22-year-old city man faces one felony charge of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and two misdemeanors after police chased his vehicle through the South Side shortly just after noon Saturday.

Police said they attempted to stop a vehicle being driven erratically near Edwards Street and Parkwood Avenue, but the driver didn’t stop.

Police followed the vehicle as it ran through nine stop signs and one red light and traveled through residential neighborhoods at 50 to 60 mph, almost hitting other motorists, police said.

When the vehicle crashed at a Boston Avenue residence, police arrested Andre L. Harrison of East Ravenwood Avenue. In addition to the failure to comply, he was charged with driving under suspension and marijuana possession.
