W.R. throwers move on in D3

CRESTON -- Western Reserve senior Alex Rathburn won the girls shot put and the discus, while teammate Clay Jones finished first in the boys shot put and third in the discus at Wednesday's Division III district track and field meet at Norwayne High School.
Rathburn threw 40 feet, 1 inches to win the shot by almost five feet. She won the discus by two feet with a toss of 128-10. Reserve's Victoria Brown finished fourth in the high jump to advance to next week's Navarre regional. (The top four in each event advance.)
Jones threw 51-93/4 in the shot (winning by almost four feet) and 148-1 in the discus. Smithville's Bryce Indermuhle won the discus with a throw of 160-0.
