BOARDMAN -- Jim Tressel, Ohio State University head football coach, is the keynote speaker for the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way 2007 "Champions Among Us" dinner and silent auction.
The event is Tuesday at Mr. Anthony's on South Avenue, beginning at 6 p.m.
In addition to the presentation by Tressel, former head coach at Youngstown State University, there will be silent and live auctions featuring autographed sports memorabilia, tickets and gift certificates.
"We are thrilled to have Coach Tressel as our special guest," said Doug Sweeney, United Way 2007 Campaign chairman. "Community response has been overwhelming."

A limited number of tickets are available. They can be bought for 50 each by calling the United Way office at (330) 746-8494. Reservations are required. Tickets will not be available at the door.
"This is our second Champions Among Us event," said JoAnn Stock, United Way director of marketing and resource development. The first Champions Among Us event featured Rocky Bleier, a Vietnam War veteran and a member of a Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl championship team.
"We hope to make this an annual event, with the focus being on how each of us, working together and doing what we can, can be champions for our community," Stock said.
As head football coach at OSU, Tressel has an overall record of 62-14; six bowl appearances, including four bowl championship games; four 10-win seasons; three Big Ten titles; and one national championship. His Buckeye team lost in the 2007 national championship game to the University of Florida.
While head coach at YSU, Tressel-coached teams captured four national titles and appeared in two other championship games. Tressel was selected as the I-AA National Coach of the year in 1991, '93, '94 and '97.
