Authorized the board of control to pay 90,000 to the Regional Income Tax Agency to provide a tax analysis of potential Joint Economic Development Districts and Systems. The city wants to enter into such agreements with surrounding townships and cities to increase income tax revenues for all involved.
Restructured the city's economic development department. With Jeffrey Chagnot resigning June 30 as the department's director, council agreed to lower that job's annual salary from 72,451 to 60,358. It's also eliminating the position of development director and creating a new position, project/grant coordinator. It's also creating a part-time monitor and compliance coordinator position.
Approved the 5.01 million Community Development Agency budget.
Postponed a vote to authorize the board of control to spend 90,000 to buy an apartment building at 204 Fifth Ave.
