EASTLAKE -- Caitlyn Youngs (7-4) had nine strikeouts and two walks in tossing a three-hitter and the senior also homered to lead Mathews High over Kirtland, 14-3 in a Division IV softball district semifinal.
Seniors Amber Jarvis and Alli Stein both had three hits, while junior McKenzie Brown and sophomore Alyssa DeJean had two apiece.
Sophomore Tillie Dickerson also homered for the Mustangs (14-6), who play Southington in today's district final at 4:30 p.m.
