Sharon hospital provides breast cancer information

SHARON, Pa. — Sharon Regional Hospital’s Breast Care Center, as part of its breast cancer month awareness campaign during May, has joined the national campaign to encourage women with breast cancer to reach out to their family members and friends who may be at a higher risk for breast cancer.

Marilyn Maule, breast care nurse for the center, said Sharon Regional recently started a MUMs campaign with AstraZenica at Hermitage HealthPLACE. AstraZeneca provided educational materials on breast cancer as well as pink ribbon pins, and pink ribbon cookies as well as the MUM's card handout. MUMs is the acronym for Mother's United (for) Mammograms, which encourages increased patient education and awareness of early detection through self-breast exams and mammograms, Maule said.
