Murderer Betz gets out in July

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Adult Parole Authority has ignored the protests of the Trumbull County prosecutor and today decided to parole murderer Gary Betz.

He will be released from prison in July. Betz, 53, of Homeworth in Columbiana County, murdered Ronald Goche, the then 30-year-old owner of the Riviera Inn tavern near Lake Milton, in 1976. He has served 29 years.

Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins, who prosecuted Betz, traveled to Columbus to oppose release of Betz.
