Work begins Monday on access to Wal-Mart in Calcutta

CALCUTTA — Access to Wal-Mart’s northern drive off Dresden Avenue here will be closed starting at 7 p.m. Monday for two days as part of the state Route 170 widening project.

The closing was originally scheduled for Thursday evening. It was rescheduled, however, to avoid potential delays over the weekend.

Upon completion of this work, no more left turns will be permitted from Dresden Avenue or this driveway, as access to it will be right in and right out only.

Work began in early April to widen state Route 170 to five lanes from just west of county Road 447 to just south of county Road 430. Other work includes widening on county Road 447, the realignment of Huston Road and Sprucevale Avenue, installation of new curbs and gutters, construction of a new storm sewer system, and improvements to substandard horizontal curves.
