Warren police investigating man's death

WARREN -- City police and Trumbull County Coroner's Office are investigating the death of a 50-year-old man whose body was found near a set of railroad tracks.
The body of Charles E. Phillips of Oak Circle Southwest was discovered about 12:15 a.m. Friday along the railroad track near Martin Luther King Avenue Southwest.
Phillips had apparently been returning from fishing when he died.
Authorities are attempting to determine if he was struck by a train or died of natural causes. An autopsy will be performed Monday.
Police reported that the CSX train conductor, Bill Smith, and engineer James Brill told them the train was westbound when they heard a rattling noise under it.
Smith said he looked out and saw what he believed was a rolled up carpet along the tracks and a large bucket emerge from under the train.
As they backed up the train, they noticed the body and called 911.
When police arrived, they reported, they found a five-gallon bucket on the tracks, two fishing polls, a walking cane, fishing net and three fish that were still alive.
The body was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
