YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY
Marisa E. Beagle of East Palestine, Jennifer E. Petrella of Boardman and Melanie Jean Diorio of Poland have been inducted into Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization.
COLLEGE OF WOOSTER, WOOSTER, OHIO
Richard Giles, a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a senior chemistry major, received the Robert E. Wilson Award; and Stefanie Zifchak, a graduate of Girard High School and a senior religious studies major, received the Lou Cramblett Christianson Prize in Education, the Endowed Faculty Scholarship and the Leslie Gordon Tait Scholarship at Wooster's 37th annual Recognition Banquet.
The Wilson Award is presented to a chemistry major who, at the close of the junior year, has shown the most promise of ability to go forward in chemistry. The Christianson Prize in Education is awarded each year to a junior or senior student of high academic achievement who is planning a teaching career in early childhood or elementary education. The Faculty Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. The Gordon Tait Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior who has shown a keen interest in the academic study of religion and who has demonstrated outstanding academic ability, especially in a broad range of religion courses.
WESTMINSTER COLLEGE, NEW WILMINGTON, PA.
The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team won its division at the regional SIFE competition held in Chicago this month. In its prior 11 years as a part of SIFE, the Westminster College team had never placed higher than first runner-up in regional competitions. This year, the team put together a solid list of community service accomplishments. The Chicago competition culminated with a presentation of each team's accomplishments over the past year. Local members of the team are: Nathan Capello, son of Robert and Karla Capello of Slippery Rock, a sophomore accounting and financial economics major;
Matthew Saines, son of George and MaryAnn Saines of New Castle, a sophomore business administration major; Brett Turk, son of Debra Turk and the late Robert Turk of New Castle, a junior psychology-human resources major; Jack Marti, son of Jack and Geraldine Marti of New Wilmington, a junior psychology-human resources major; and Kyle Gruszecki, son of Daniel Gruszecki of Leetonia, a sophomore business administration major.
