Various missions
The U.S. military uses several types of robots for a variety of missions in Iraq and Afghanistan:
Toughbot -- Weight, 1.5 pounds. Camera-carrying robot designed to be tossed into buildings and search for insurgents.
Dragon runner: Weight, 16 pounds. Designed to be a scout, enabling patrols to look ahead and around corners.
Marcbot -- Weight, 25 pounds. Soldiers use this camera-carrying robot to inspect suspicious objects.
Packbot -- Weight, 52 pounds. Camera can be used to identify bombs, with remote-control handlike grippers used to disarm or detonate them.
Talon -- Weight, 110 pounds. Often used to lift and remove debris and rubble from suspicious objects.
