Poland's standouts head field in Bubba Classic

WARREN -- Two members of the Poland High School boy's basketball team that just played in the state Division II tournament -- Lou Coppola and Chris Lovell -- highlight the Mahoning County team that will compete in the sixth Frank Bubba Classic all-star game.
The Bubba Classic is Friday at Warren Harding High School.
The evening pits Trumbull County basketball seniors against Mahoning County players.
At 6 p.m. the girls will play and the boys game follows.
Girls roster
The Mahoning County girls team will be coached by Tanisha Franklin of Rayen and two of her Tiger players will compete -- Tieara Jones and Kenysha Tennant.
Also on the team will be Stacey Wahlman (Boardman), Jacki Glista (Canfield), Alex Woytek (Mooney), Jamie Soos (Chaney), Carrie Fiol (Jackson-Milton), Kaitlyn McCarthey (Lowellville), Jacque Schrader (Lowellville), Kellee Davis (Poland), Liz Valerio (Struthers), Danielle Crafter (Ursuline), Megan Saccomen (Ursuline), Cassi Snoddy (West Branch) and Lainey Kekic (Western Reserve).
Trumbull County coach John Diehl (Howland) will have 15 players to pick from. They are Katarina Neskovich (Liberty), Elizabeth Ghindia (Champion), Ellie Shields (Howland), Carly Sabat (Howland), Melissa Airhart (Howland), Sophie Paddock (Hubbard), Michelle Chaves (Warren JFK), Alynn Martin (Lakeview), Chelsea Butler (Lakeview), Michelle Dykes (Liberty), Jamie Rumple (Maplewood), Sarah King (Mathews), Emily Montgomery (Newton Falls), Ashley Haas (Champion) and Tressa Skahill (Hubbard).
Boys roster
Grant Spaite of Springfield Local will coach the Mahoning County boys. His squad includes three players from Campbell Memorial -- Jermaine Richardson, Bryant Burt -- and Thomas Hall and two from Ursuline, D'Aundray Brown and Ryan Burton.
Also on the team will be Bre Boudrey (Rayen), Jesse James (Sebring), Dane Dobson (Springfield), Matt Kukura (Struthers), Kyle Rockwell (West Branch), Taon Belcher (Chaney) and William Johnson (Wilson).
Three Warren Harding players -- Keelyn Franklin, Terrance Hudson and Aaron Elder -- will play on their home court as part of the Trumbull County boys who are coached by Matt Urchek of Maplewood.
Others playing on the team are Joe Harkelrode (Bristol), Katrell Jones (Champion), Frank Rosile (Hubbard), Mike Ryan (LaBrae), Eric Hart (LaBrae), Dustin Opalka (Lakeview), Mychal Doblanski (LIberty), Mike Hillman (Maplewood), Bradley Hinton (McDonald), Andy Timko (McDonald), Matt Dillon (Newton Falls) and Justin Allen (Niles).
3-point contests
Each game will feature a 3-point contest at halftime.
Shooting in the girl's game will be Erika Stevens (Champion), Rachel Rouan (Fitch), Rumple, Melissa Huffman (Springfield), Valerio, Kayla Hanuschak (Fitch) and Nina Gabrelcik.
Participants in the boy's 3-point competition will be Kukura, T.J. Bevilacqua (Mineral Ridge), Opalka, Ryan, Todd Medallis (Newton Falls) and Zach McGhee (Badger).
Rounding out the evening will be a dunk contest. Participants are Allen, Ryan, Jones, Andrew Dejulio (Hubbard), Corey Cunningham (Springfield) and Hall.
