People won't build without jobs, HBA told

BOARDMAN — A consultant to the home building industry told several dozen Home Builders Association members that more jobs are needed across the state if people are expected to continue buying homes.

Page Vornbrock, of Page M. Vornbrock and Associates, spoke Tuesday at the spring dinner meeting of the Home Builders Association of the Mahoning Valley. He said there are five areas of concern for those in the industry: Jobs, over-building, inflation of building costs, sub-prime loans and consumer confidence.

“When I was here four years ago, jobs was a big concern back then. Job concern has not gone away in Ohio,” he said. “In terms of economic concerns we have one — jobs. It starts there. It doesn’t end there, but it is an issue.”
