KINDERGARTEN Registration

Schools are registering children for kindergarten for the 2007-08 school year. In most cases, children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody may also be required. Any additional requirements are listed with each school.
Newton Falls: Registration will be held from 9-11 a.m. and from 1-3 p.m. Monday through Friday next week at the office of Arlington Road Elementary, 227 Arlington Road. Anyone with questions should contact Dee Howard at (330) 872-5225.
Warren City: Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on these dates: April 17 at Alden and Emerson elementary schools, April 18 at Lincoln at Devon Elementary, April 19 at Jefferson and Laird Avenue elementary schools, April 24 at McGuffey and Horace Mann elementary schools and April 25 at ACOP at 2051 Niles Road S.E. Parents who wish to have their child who won't be 5 years old as of Sept. 30, should call (330) 841-2236, Ext. 276 for early testing.
Parents should bring their child to registration for vision and hearing tests. Proof of residence must be one of the following: a current income tax form, a complete utility bill, a bill of sale, a rental agreement, a home insurance form or a notarized statement from a landlord.
Parents are also encouraged to register at this time for Jump Start, a free summer program offered to help ease the transition from home/preschool into kindergarten. The program will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, July 23 to Aug. 16. Transportation will be provided. Austintown: Registration will be at the local elementary schools from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. April 24 and 25 as well as from 5-7 p.m. April 25. For questions, call (330) 797-3900, Ext. 1501.
West Branch: Registration will be done by appointment May 2 and 3 at West Branch High School, 14277 Main St., Beloit. Call the special services office at (330) 938-4490 for an appointment.
