K-9's for Compassion will evaluate your pet Suday

YOUNGSTOWN — Pet owners interested in becoming volunteers for K-9's for Compassion will get the opportunity Sunday.

K-9’s for Compassion, a group of animal handlers, is sponsoring a 22-step pet evaluation that focuses on basic obedience and aptitude. Pets that pass will be able to join the group as it visits area nursing homes and hospitals.

Research has shown many health benefits go along with patients who enjoy animal therapy. The group also participates in Hubbard Public Library’s program “Paws to Read.”

Pet evaluations will be Sunday at St. Elizabeth Health Center on Belmont Avenue by appointment. For information, contact the group at (330) 534-2001.
