STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Drew Astorino hit a jumper from the foul line with two seconds remaining and finished with 18 points, as General McLane defeated Greencastle Antrim, 57-55, Friday night to claim the PIAA Class AAA title.
Trevor Gelsinger sank two foul shots with about one minute left to tie the game at 55 for Greencastle Antrim (20-12) when General McLane (28-4) called a timeout to set up a shot. Lancers coach Andy Schulz called another timeout with 15 seconds left after his team couldn't find an opening.
Astorino took care of that problem. He took a pass from Bob Stauffer along the right wing before penetrating the lane and pulling up around the foul line for the shot that sailed through the net.
After a timeout, a Greencastle Antrim 3-point attempt fell short of the rim, and General McLane could finally celebrate the victory and a PIAA first. General McLane became the first PIAA school to win state titles in football and basketball in the same school year.

Sharp from the perimeter and sturdy in the paint -- Reading Central Catholic's impressive play earned the Cardinals a PIAA title.
Reading (29-4) drained key 3-pointers in the second half and leaned on senior center Colin Naugle to win the Class A championship.
Naugle, a beefy 6-foot-6 post player, used his formidable frame to control the inside. He backed in easily and grabbed almost every rebound within his reach, finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
And he helped set the tone early, with 12 points and six rebounds by halftime, as Reading built an eight-point lead.
Matthew Ashcroft had 12 points for Reading, and Cameron Furman added 11.
DuBois (27-4) fell behind slowly and could not gain ground because of poor second-half shooting.
At least the Cardinals started out strong. They were down just three at the end of the first quarter, thanks largely to the play of senior center Chris Wulderk, who finished with 10 points and seven boards.

Ashley Gale scored 27 points, Brittany Gunn added 18 points and Cheltenham defeated Council Rock North to claim its first PIAA Class AAAA championship since 2000.
Gunn made all nine of her field goal attempts and Misha Horsey added 11 points for the Lady Panthers (28-6).
Cheltenham scored the first 11 points of the game and never trailed.
Addie Micir led Council Rock North (23-11) with 16 points before fouling out at the 4:17 mark of the fourth quarter. Erin Gold added 11 points.
York Catholic 58, Villa Maria 44
York Catholic finished out the season in style, defeating Villa Maria of Erie to win their second straight PIAA Class AA girls title.
Villa Maria (27-5) didn't make it easy, despite trailing 34-18 at halftime. It clawed back to within 10 points late, and the game seemed closer than that with the way Villa Maria regained momentum after a deflating first half.
Britney Wilwohls' foul line jumper pulled the Victors within 44-34 early in the fourth quarter -- the closest they had drawn to York Catholic (35-0) since late in the first quarter.
Senior Megan Stewart, who finished with 24 points calmly drove through the defense for an easy layup with less than two minutes and added two late free throws to seal the win. Another senior, Amanda Weaver, added a couple late key foul shots.
