BOSTON -- Tomas Plekanec and Chris Higgins each had a goal and two assists to lift Montreal, which scored five unanswered goals in the last 22 minutes and swept the home-and-home series. Mike Johnson, Maxim Lapierre and Higgins put the game away when they each scored 2:16 apart in the third period to give the Canadiens a 5-3 lead with 11:09 remaining. Phil Kessel, Marco Sturm and Mark Mowers scored for the Bruins, who lost their third straight. Jaroslav Halak made 32 saves for Montreal, which scored three power-play goals.
Lightning 3, Devils 1
TAMPA, Fla. -- Martin St. Louis scored twice in the third period and Marc Denis made 34 saves overall to lead Tampa Bay. Eric Perrin stole an errant pass before setting up St. Louis' first goal that gave the Lightning a 2-1 advantage at 9:42 of the third. St. Louis made it 3-1 with 6:16 left, netting his 41st goal of the season. Vincent Lecavalier assisted for his 500th NHL point. Jason Ward also scored for Tampa Bay. New Jersey's Martin Brodeur stopped 29 shots. Zach Parise had the lone goal for the Devils, who have lost four of five.
Hurricanes 4, Capitals 3
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Eric Staal and Andrew Ladd scored in the first two minutes of the third period as Carolina rallied. Alex Ovechkin scored twice for Washington, notching his second multi-goal game in six contests. He almost had a hat trick, but his shot in the final second was blocked in front by Hurricanes defenseman Niclas Wallin. Cam Ward relieved John Grahame in goal at the start of the third period and earned his 28th win of the season. Grahame allowed three goals on six shots through 40 minutes. Ward faced only four shots in his first appearance in 11 days since sustaining a lacerated knee against the New York Rangers.

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Ray Emery made 35 saves to lead Ottawa. Patrick Eaves, Jason Spezza, Dany Heatley and Dean McAmmond scored for Ottawa. Jozef Stumpel and Olli Jokinen scored for Florida. Florida's Ed Belfour gave up four goals on nine shots, including three goals on the first three shots of the second period. He was pulled for Craig Anderson at 12:01 of the second. Anderson made 10 saves.
Sharks 5, Thrashers 1
ATLANTA -- Jonathan Cheechoo scored three goals, Milan Michalek had one and set up two others, and linemate Joe Thornton had three assists in San Jose's victory that ended Atlanta's franchise-record, home-winning streak at seven. San Jose also got a goal from Bill Guerin for a 4-1 lead that ended the night for beleaguered goalie Kari Lehtonen with 5:31 remaining in the second period. San Jose peppered him with 23 shots. Cheechoo made it 5-1 with 2:46 left in the period, beating Atlanta's backup Johan Hedberg for his 30th goal and second hat trick of the season, seventh career. Atlanta got a first-period goal from Pascal Dupuis.
Wild 5, Blues 1
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Marian Gaborik scored twice and linemate Pavol Demitra had a goal and two assists as Minnesota won its franchise-record eighth consecutive game. Demitra set up both of Gaborik's goals and scored on an assist from Gaborik. The pair has combined for 66 points in Minnesota's last 24 games.
