'Check Out Hunger' event
BOARDMAN -- The Boardman Giant Eagle supermarket and the Second Harvest Food Bank are teaming up with local celebrities from WFMJ, WBCB and HOT 101 as well as local sports team mascots to raise money for Harvest for Hunger. On-air personalities from WFMJ, WCBC and HOT 101 along with Valley sports team mascots will bag groceries Monday of customers participating in the "Check Out Hunger" promotion. Shoppers can participate by tearing off the charitable donation coupon available in the checkout line, adding their donation for the food bank onto their grocery bill. This year's goal is to raise 65,000 and collect 35,000 pounds of food to feed hungry families in the tri-county area.
