POLAND LIVE| Classy ending for Poland

Thursday's Division II state semifinal game didn't end on the scoreboard the way Poland fans hoped. But Poland's players and Coach Ken Grisdale showed class in their postgame press conference.

“It was awesome playing Mr. Ohio — it was a dream come true,” Poland senior Charlie Carchedi said. “I never thought we would make it this far to be playing against this kid but I had a fun time playing against him.”

Grisdale said the Rams "are a darn good team and we wish them success in Saturday's game."

Poland was unable to control the ball, losing the turnover battle, 30-14. “When you get into their tempo, you’re walking into a deathtrap,” Grisdale said.

Poland finishes 22-4. Their first three losses were league affairs — twice to Canfield and once to Campbell of the Metro Athletic Conference.

Despite the 31-point loss, the Bulldogs stood before their pep band and fans while the alma mater played.

"We have nothing to hang our heads about," Grisdale said.

He's so right.
