Fire destroys lounge

Thursday, March 22, 2007

A portion of U.S. Route 224 remained closed to traffic this morning as firefighters continued to douse water on Bingo's Lounge in Union Township.

Assistant Fire Chief Jack Stoner said fire crews were called to the lounge at 1:30 a.m. today for the blaze which appears to have destroyed the entire building. They continued to monitor hot spots just before 10 a.m.

Stoner said patrons were apparently still in the lounge when the fire began, but no one was injured. Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Jan Wilson was on the scene working to determine the cause.

According to Stoner, the business is owned by Chip Eichenlaub and the building had recently been remodeled.

Firefighters diverted traffic through the Westgate Plaza parking lot as they fought the fire this morning.
