A former Thiel College vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college is returning to Thiel as its interim president.
Dr. Robert Olson was named to the temporary post today by the executive board of Thiel's Board of Trustees to fill the vacancy caused by the recent resignation of President Lance Masters. Olson won't be a candidate in the search for a permanent replacement for Masters.
Olson, a member of the Thiel Class of 1960, joined the college faculty in 1965 as an assistant professor of history and rose through the associate and professor ranks, being named vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college in 1999.
