Second Harvest sets days to raise funds, food

YOUNGSTOWN — Activities are scheduled in the next few days to raise money and food for the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley’s 2007 Harvest for Hunger campaign.

The 2007 Harvest for Hunger goal is $65,000 and 35,000 pounds of food, Second Harvest officials said. Each day, Second Harvest distributes 20,000 pounds of food to 170 hunger relief programs in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

On Saturday, the Llucky Llamas 4-H Club of Mahoning County is collecting food and money and raising awareness for Second Harvest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kmart Plaza, 4475 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, and at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave., Boardman. The club will have llamas at the Kmart location.
