Brown, Hinton are area's best in Division III, IV

COLUMBUS -- Ursuline senior D'Aundray Brown and McDonald senior Bradley Hinton each earned first team honors on Tuesday in the 2007 Associated Press Division III and IV All-Ohio teams.
Both were earlier named district players of the year.
Brown, a 6-4 forward who is headed to Cleveland State next year, averaged 22.3 points, 13.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.9 blocks and 3.3 steals per game this season for the Irish, who lost to Campbell in the Div. III district final.
Campbell senior Jermaine Richardson, who averaged 16 points per game in leading the Red Devils to the regional semifinals, earned second team honors, as did East Palestine senior Dan Hanolt, who scored 22.3 points per game for the Inter Tri-County League Tier One champions.
Jackson, Dillon picks
Warren JFK's Desmar Jackson and Newton Fall's Matt Dillon made special mention, while Mooney's L.J. Sutton, Champion's Katrell Jones and LaBrae's Mike Ryan earned honorable mention.
In Div. IV, Hinton, a 6-3 forward, averaged 16 points per game for the Blue Devils, who went 24-0 before falling to Rittman in the regular season. His teammate, Andy Timko, earned special mention after helping McDonald to the ITCL Tier Two title.
Lowellville senior Mario Nero, who averaged 20 points a game, was named to the third team. Sebring's Zach Tieche made special mention.
Earning honorable mention were Western Reserve's John Porterfield, McDonald's Scott Sentner, Southington's Trey Tietz and Maplewood's Mike Hillman.
Three players headed to this week's state semifinals headline the Div. III and IV teams. Sharing the honors as players of the year in Division III are Findlay Liberty-Benton's Nathan Hyde, Ashen Ward of Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph and Wheelersburg's Camden Miller.
Head to head
Hyde and poll champion Liberty-Benton meet Ward and VASJ in Thursday's opening game of the state tournament. Miller then leads his team against defending champion Cincinnati North College Hill -- back to the states despite the departure of two of last year's co-players of the year, O.J. Mayo and Bill Walker.
The player of the year in Division IV was Ross Stienecker of poll champion New Knoxville.
The awards were based on the recommendations of a state media panel.
