Airport increases fees for security
VIENNA — The increasing cost of security at the Youngtown-Warren Regional Airport will be passed on to customers in the coming months.
Members of the Western Reserve Port Authority, which runs the airport, approved a measure Wednesday increasing security fees charged to airlines operating at the airport from 25 cents per flight per person, to 50 cents effective May 1.
Steve Bowser, director of aviation at the airport, said the fees will apply to Allegiant Air, which provides flights between the local airport and Sanford, Fla.; and two companies providing charter flights to Atlantic City: Casino Express and Gold Transportation.
