Jaguars: Safety Gerald Sensabaugh was arrested early Monday in Kingsport, Tenn., and charged with speeding and carrying a firearm without a permit. Sensabaugh, 23, was pulled over at 12:06 a.m. after an officer spotted his 2006 BMW driving 86 mph in a 55 mph zone, police Sgt. David Moore said. When asked if he had any weapons in the car, Sensabaugh told the officer he had a pistol, but did not have a permit to carry it. The officer found a loaded 9mm pistol in the console along with another fully loaded clip. Sensabaugh was booked into Kingsport City Jail on the charges, both misdemeanors, and was released about 2:30 a.m. after posting a 750 bond. Under Tennessee law, driving faster than 75 mph in a 55-mph zone can be prosecuted as misdemeanor reckless driving, although the charge is at the discretion of prosecutors. Sensabaugh lives in Kingsport during the offseason. He played at East Tennessee State in nearby Johnson City before transferring to North Carolina. He was drafted by the Jaguars in the fifth round in 2005 and went from special teams to starting strong safety. In his two seasons he has 56 solo tackles, 12 assists, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and blocked punt.
Dolphins vs. Bengals: Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was accused of punching Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones after police said the players exchanged trash talk at a casino blackjack table in Las Vegas. Porter was issued a summons on a misdemeanor battery charge after the Sunday altercation that began inside the Palms hotel-casino, Las Vegas police officer Martin Wright said. Porter could face up to a year in jail and up to a 1,000 fine, Wright said. Porter, 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, left the Pittsburgh Steelers after eight years and signed a five-year, 32 million deal with the Dolphins earlier this month. Jones, 6-5 and 307 pounds, missed much of last season with a knee injury.
