Boy trapped under concrete is rescued

VALENCIA, Pa. (AP) — A teenager was trapped under a heavy concrete slab for about two hours before emergency crews were able to remove it and rush him to a waiting medical helicopter.

Butler County 911 dispatchers said the accident in Middlesex Township, about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh, was reported at about 12:15 p.m. It was not immediately clear how the boy became trapped.

About a dozen rescuers worked to removed the slab, about six feet by three feet, by inflating air bags under it and securing a harness to it, WPXI-TV reported.
