Youngstown bishop installation plans are set

YOUNGSTOWN — Three cardinals and 41 bishops and archbishops will attend when Bishop George V. Murry is installed as the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown’s fifth bishop.

“They’re from all over the country,” said Nancy Yuhasz, diocese chancellor and spokeswoman.

Invitations were sent to all 431 bishops and archbishops.

“That 41 are coming I think shows that they have affection for the bishop,” she said. “I think the bishop is well-respected.”

The installation is set for 1:30 p.m. March 28 at St. Columba Cathedral, West Rayen Avenue.

The Most Rev. Daniel Pilarczyk, archbishop of Cincinnati, will install the new bishop before Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Papal Nuncio to the United States, or Pope Benedict XVI’s representative.

The three Cardinals and 41 archbishops and bishops will be joined by nearly 200 clergy at the ceremony.

Dignitaries, parish representatives and other invited guests also are expected at the event, where the diocesan choir will provide the musical backdrop.

The installation liturgy and reception is by invitation and ticket only but it can be watched on television.
