Monday, March 19, 2007

BOARDMAN — A chiropractor charged last week with sexual battery for actions that allegedly occurred in 1990 has been fired.

Dr. Joseph B. Masternick, medical director at Physicians Diagnostic & Rehabilitation Center on Trailwood Drive, said the facility’s out-of-state owners fired Dr. Gregory S. Dew.

The action came after Dew, 45, of Kelly Park Road, Columbiana, was charged last week with sexual battery.

Dr. Masternick said that Dew worked at the center for about two years.

“That kind of conduct is unacceptable and is not condoned by our office,” the doctor said.

The incident that led to the charge occurred in 1990,   before Dew becoming a chiropractor. At the time, Dew was coach for a team at Youngstown Gymnastic Center, Market Street. A 15-year-old girl whom he coached alleged sexual activity with Dew.
