Gruszecki pitches Simon to 6-2 verdict over Action
STRUTHERS — Simon Roofing kept its playoff bid alive as it posted a 6-2 victory over Action Physical Therapy Thursday in Class B League action at Cene Park.
Simon’s Ryan Gruszecki pitched seven innings, allowing two runs while striking out seven in the win.
Simon took an early lead 1-0 in the top of the first, but Action came right back in the bottom with two runs of its own. It stayed that way until Joel Melnick lead off the fourth with a single. A hit batter, an error and a bases-loaded walk would be the undoing for Jarryd Summers and Action.
Joel Melnick led Simon with two hits. He also drove in a run in the seventh.
Action Physical Therapy was led by Dan Keil and Josh Fyffe, who hit a double and a triple, respectively.
Livi Steel 18, Roth Brothers 1
Livi took control of the game in the second inning as 11 straight batters reached safely before recording an out. Livi scored nine runs in the inning and added seven more in the fifth.
Dan Perkins had three hits and Bobby Herberger added two for Livi Steel. Josh Swepis, Zach Byler and Willie Sekula each added three RBIs.
For Roth, Bryan Stotle and Joe Novak had the team’s only hits. Stotle scored the run and Novak had the RBI.

Callahan’s 5, Reds 3
WARREN — Cliff Panezich allowed three hits over 52⁄3 innings and Josh Miller had two hits to lead Callahan’s past the Reds. Nate Daugherty had a double for Reds.

PI&I Express 1
Steve Boxler hit a three-run homer and Mahoning Valley Knights rapped out 13 hits to roll past PI&I Express.
Brett Dutton added three hits and Manoli Pahoulis had two for Mahoning.
Champion Marlins 11,
Girard Hardware 1
Tom Popadak pounded out three hits including a double, while Jason Johnson, Travis McCartney and Lance Townsend all drove in two runs to lead Champion’s rout of Girard Hardware. Joe Cvengros and Nate King had four of the six hits for Girard.
Tri-State College
Yo. Metros 8, Pitts. Pandas 7
YOUNGSTOWN — Lee Bainbridge hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to lead Youngstown Metros past the Pandas at Pemberton Park.
It was Bainbridge’s second home run of the game.
The Pandas had scored twice in the ninth inning to tie the game.
Jim Pasquine also homered for Youngstown.
