BOARDMAN — InfoCision Management Corp. will add 120 workers when it opens a call center in a new technology park.
The Akron-based company needs more room and more workers because of the growth of its business in Boardman, said Steve Brubaker, senior vice president of corporate affairs.
The Boardman center, which is now located on Southern Boulevard, makes calls to recruit volunteers for national charities. InfoCision has been adding more charities as clients, Brubaker said.
The 240 workers now in Boardman will move to the new office, which is on Crossroads Drive off Western Reserve Road. It will be completed at the end of the year.
Workers typically start at between $8 and $10 an hour but can earn up to $12.25 an hour if they are experienced in the industry, company officials said.
The new office will feature a fitness center and a wellness center, where the company doctor will have office hours.
About 150 workers who were bused in for a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday applauded enthusiastically when Brubaker talked about the building. They also cheered loudly for the call center manager, Suzanne Eberhard.
“We have a very close-knit group,” Eberhard said later.
Possible Austintown expansion
InfoCision is also considering an expansion in Austintown, where it has more than 500 workers, Brubaker said.
Brubaker said more than 50 workers at the Boardman office were being honored Thursday for being at the center for all five years the office has been open.
Brubaker said the company is expanding but is committed to keeping its operations in the United States because it wants to ensure quality.
“We’re not going to India. We’re not to the Philippines. We’re right here in the USA,” he said.
Brubaker said InfoCision raises more money for nonprofit organizations than any other company in the world and is increasing its business of handling inbound customer-service calls for major corporations.
InfoCision is the first tenant in the Crossroads Technology Park, which is owned by C-Z Construction and Development Co. of Boardman.
Dan Zarlenga, C-Z president, said he hoped the start of the InfoCision project will attract more companies. He said the 24-acre site is designed to be an upscale office park.
InfoCision’s building, which will be owned by C-Z, will cost $2.5 million to build, plus InfoCision will spend about $1.4 million on equipment. The 25,000-square-foot building is twice as large as its current space.
