The festival for children and adults will be in downtown Salem for three days.

Friday: Free kickoff events are open to the public starting at 7 p.m. These include music by The Groove Daddys on the Salem Community Theatre stage; Mwatabu Okantah, an internationally known poet at the Friends Roastery; and Norm Shaw performing at Price2Sell Music Store. The Butler Museum of American Art’s exhibit “Legacy: A Tradition Lives” will be open from 7 to 9 p.m.

Saturday: Art vendors will be located along Broadway Avenue. There will be a children’s art festival under the tents at the old Grand Theatre lot on East State Street near Penn Avenue. The children’s art festival will be open the same hours as the art vendors. Both are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A stage on Broadway will feature local musical groups: Sugartree Alley, The Zou, Donkey Engine and Hindsight will be performing from 2 p.m. Saturday into the evening.

Sunday: Art vendors on Broadway and the children’s art festival will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Music on the Broadway stage will run from noon to 4 p.m. Performances will include The Quaker City Band, Dulci Mores and Salem Community Theatre performing numbers from the upcoming production of “South Pacific.” The Butler Museum of American Art will be open from noon to 4 p.m. There will be a gospel concert at the Kent State City Center (former Salem Middle School) at 6:30 p.m.
