YOUNGSTOWN — Gov. Ted Strickland will visit Youngstown State University on Friday to discuss the passage of the state’s $52.3 billion budget.

Strickland, a Democrat formerly of Lisbon, will talk about the budget at 9 a.m. Friday at YSU’s Tod Hall. Strickland is having discussions on the budget today in Columbus, Toledo and Cleveland and in Youngstown, Ironton, Cincinnati and Dayton on Friday.

The budget includes a two-year tuition freeze for all public colleges and universities, a homestead exemption tax cut for senior citizens who own homes, and provides Medicaid coverage for more poor children.

The Ohio House and Senate passed the budget Wednesday. Strickland, who represented Columbiana County and a portion of Mahoning County in the U.S. House for four years, is expected to sign the bill this week.
