DON’T FORGET PETS Heat safety

Pets need special consideration during summer. Animal Charity offers these tips.

Plenty of fresh water and add some ice.

Plenty of shade.

Fresh food every day to prevent mold, bacteria, maggots and flies.

No excessive exercise.

Don’t leave an animal alone in a car.

Prevent flies with a veterinarian-approved spray, and keep your pet’s area clean.

Use flea and tick prevention.

A bath helps cool a pet down and gets rid of irritating dirt.

Recognize the signs of heat exhaustion: Fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and not acting normal.
