Brian Terlesky wins
seventh, eighth events

CLEVELAND — Seven-year-old Brian Terlesky posted his seventh and eighth straight junior golf tournament wins this week.

On Monday, Terlesky of Boardman shot a 5-under-par 31 to win the 7-year-old division of the U.S. Kids Tournament at Fox Den Golf Course here. He won his division by four strokes.

Sunday in Columbus, Terlesky won his division in another U.S. Kids Tournament at North Star Golf Resort shooting a 3-under-par 33 to win by six shots.

He finished the month of June with eight victories in eight tournaments that he played in.

Moxley, Ellis YBA
selections for honors

YOUNGSTOWN — William Moxley and James Ellis have been chosen as director-of-the-year and secretary-of-the-year, respectively, by the Youngstown Bowling Assn.

Moxley’s recognition is for 2007, as is Ellis’. To earn the secretary honor, Ellis displayed compliance with all rules and regulations of the U.S. Bowling Congress and the Greater Youngstown Bowling Association.

Moxley and Ellis will be honored at the YBA’s hall of fame dinner, July 1 at the ITAM Centre. Tickets may be obtained by calling 758-8367.

Ron Haus bowling’s
choice as top sponsor

YOUNGSTOWN — Ron Haus of Ron Haus Auto Group was selected as the 2006-2007 season’s sponsor-of-the-year by the Youngstown Bowling Association.

Haus’ group sponsors the Wednesday Night league and team at Camelot Lanes, as well as leagues and teams at Amron Lanes and Wedgewood.

Haus also supports numerous other sports and community organizations in the area.

Craig Mast 11th
in Dew Tour event

BALTIMORE, Md. — Craig Mast of Champion, Ohio placed 11th in the BMX Park event during the AST Dew Tour-Panasonic Open Sunday.

Mast’s score was 85.67 during competition at the Camden Yards Sports Complex.

Daniel Dhers of Venezuela was the BMX Park winner with 93.17.

The Panasonic Open was the first show of the 2007 season. Other event winners included: Ryan Nyquist (BMX Dirt), Ryan Sheckler (SKB Park), Shaun White (SKB Vert), Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert) and Nate Adams (FMX).

The four-day competition  drew 54,907 fans, the second largest attendance in Dew Tour history. The five-event AST Dew Tour will next visit Cleveland with the Right Guard Open July 19-22 followed by stops in Portland, Salt Lake City and Orlando. BMX Dirt star Anthony Napolitan of Austintown and Mast are looking forward to returning to their home state next month.

Marring the BMX Dirt final was an injury to England's Stephen Murray, who fell during his second run. He was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

Napolitan finished 29th in the prelims, so he was not able to advance to the finals which features the top 12 riders from the prelims.

Brookfield’s Rosario
to attend Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa.--Recent Brookfield High graduate Timothy Rosario announced his intention to continue his education at Thiel College where he plans to compete as a member of the Tomcat men's track and field program under coach Clyde Morgan.

Rosario, son of Nancy Rosario of Masury, Ohio, plans to major in computer science.

The NCAA Division III school sponsors 19 sports.

Correction

The last name of Dominic Lapolla, a sophomore outfielder for the Warren JFK High baseball squad, was misspelled in Sunday’s paper when he was listed as a selection to the All-Steel Valley Conference first team.

Pro wrestler, wife,
son found dead

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife, and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Detective Bo Turner told television station WAGA that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide.
