YOUNGSTOWN — Those interested in participating in the fourth annual Smoky Hollow 5K Run and One-Mile Family Fun Walk to be held July 7 must register for the event by Sunday.
The run will start at 9 a.m., and the walk will begin at 9:10 a.m. The start and finish will be Harrison Field on Walnut Street in the Wick District Smoky Hollow neighborhood behind Youngstown State University’s Bliss Hall.
The run and walk will celebrate the history of Smoky Hollow and efforts to revitalize the 66-acre neighborhood.
Registration for the run and walk is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under if received before Sunday. The first 250 registered entrants receive a T-shirt.
Make checks payable to YSU Smoky Hollow Run and mail to: YSU Smoky Hollow Run, Attn. GE McCloud, One University Plaza, Youngstown, OH 44555. Registration forms are available at www.wickneighbors.org/5kRun_EntryForm07.pdf. Late registration and race-day registration is $12. Race-day registration starts at 7:45 a.m. at Harrison Field. Free parking is available in YSU’s M1 Wick Parking Deck on Wick Avenue.
The awards ceremony and brunch will be at 9:45 a.m. at Cassese’s MVR on Walnut Street. Runners, walkers and volunteers need to show their race numbers or volunteer T-shirts for the brunch.
