Spider-Man artist comes to town

A special print will be
available at the signing.

ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. — Ron Frenz, the artist who introduced the new black Spider-Man costume to the world, will be signing autographs at New Dimension Comics, on Lawrence Avenue from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

To commemorate Frenz’s historic contribution to the Spider-Man legend, New Dimension Comics has commissioned him to draw a cover recreation of that issue, “Amazing Spider-Man” #252, using various Pittsburgh landmarks.

“I’m very excited to bring this important Spider-Man artist into Ellwood City to meet his fans. He did a great job recreating his introduction of the black costume into a custom print that we will offer at the event,” said Todd McDevitt, owner of New Dimension Comics.

The cover also will show Spider-Man carrying McDevitt and his nephew Andrew McDevitt. The print will be available free of charge, with a $20 purchase, during the Black Costume Spider-Man Tour throughout the Pittsburgh region.

Frenz is a veteran comic artist having worked on Superman, Thor, Fantastic Four, Thunderstrike and many others for Marvel Comics.

In addition to his major work on Spider-Man, Frenz is drawing Spider-Man’s daughter, Spider-Girl, in her own title.

Admission and autographs for this event are free. Other works by Frenz also will be available.
