Thomas fires 1-hitter, fans 13 in 2-0 victory

John Thomas of Wharmby Sports didn’t walk anyone and rapped two hits.

STRUTHERS — John Thomas threw a one-hit shutout, striking out 13 and walking none, as Wharmby Sports blanked Action Physical Therapy, 2-0, Friday in the Class B League at Cene Park.

Thomas helped his own cause getting two hits and scoring the go-ahead run.

Mike Conglose scored on an error. Todd Finn had the lone RBI of the game, on a pinch-hit single. Cory Johnson doubled.

Jarryd Summers got the loss for Action, going seven innings, giving up two runs (one earned), striking out nine and walking three. Torin Karsonovich had the hit for Action.

STRUTHERS — Jason Simons pitched seven innings, allowed one run on six hits, struck out two and walked none for the Falcons.

Mark Lapikas led the attack with a double and two singles. Joe Koch, Kolten Hoffman, Mike Kelly and Dean Porter each had two hits.  Kelly and Joe Bako, with two RBIs, hit doubles.

Jeff Miller had a triple and an RBI for Roth while Dan Sacui scored their lone run.

WARREN — Don Marsh pitched a complete game two-hitter in leading Callahan’s Irish Pub to a 4-0 victory over Girard Hardware Thursday in Warren Class AA League at Packard Park.

T.J. Trevis hit a double and single and Josh Miller a pair of singles for Irish Pub.. Nick Zajackowski stole two bases.

Mahoning Valley Knights took a 5-3 lead into the top of the seventh as it topped Skiffey Neopolitan Dental 5-4 in another Warren AA contest.

Rick DiMuzzio and Steve Boxler each had two singles for the Knights. Jeff Clear singled twice for Skiffey’s.

Champion Marlins, leading 8-4, broke open the Warren AA League game as it scored seven runs in the fifth inning in beating P.I.&I. Express, 15-4.

Tony Kuhnheim scattered three hits to pick up the win. Eric Lance hit two singles and drove in four runs for the Marlins. Ryan Romack hit a double and single while Mike Sweeney hit a pair of singles.
