TRY KAYAKING Mill Creek Park


Kayakers of all skill levels can join these escorted trips. Single and tandem kayaks are available. Reservations must be made 36 hours before the program.

Minors ages 11 to 15 must share a tandem kayak with an adult; 16- and 17-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult. Call Ford Nature Center, (330) 740-7107, for details.

Fee: $12 a person for residents living within the park district, $15 a person for nonresidents; second person in tandem kayak is half price.

You don’t have to be a pro to participate in the games; you just need to know how to have fun! Meet at Lake Glacier Boathouse.

SUNSET KAYAK

Next Friday, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Join this kayak trip on the lake as evening turns to night. Participants must be at least 18 years old. Not for first-time kayakers. Meet at East Newport Boat Launch.

CANADA DAY KAYAK

July 1, 1 to 4 p.m.

On our neighbor’s national holiday, paddle up the Mahoning River and explore a tributary named Eagle Creek. Not for first-time kayakers. Participants must be at least 18 years old. Meet at Canoe City Park, located on North Leavitt Road in Leavittsburg. Call Ford Nature Center for map and details.

ANTI-FIRECRACKER KAYAK

July 7, 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m.

For a quiet respite from the 4th of July celebrations, join this serene excursion on Lake Newport. Meet at East Newport Boat Launch.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL KAYAK

July 15, 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Burn some calories with a paddle on Lake Newport and then return to enjoy a sweet frozen feast to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. Meet at East Newport Boat Launch.

MORNING KAYAK
