Scrappers Live | It's home opener time

Greetings from Eastwood Field, home of the most media-saturated Class A home opener in existence. In addition to a live radio broadcast on WNIO 1390, there will also be a live broadcast of the game on Fox 17/62, one of five live Scrappers broadcasts this summer.

And, for your reading enjoyment, I will have live blogs periodically throughout the game and the final score, which YOU CAN ONLY FIND HERE (unless you count TV, radio and other places on the Internet).

Because of the recent controversy involving the NCAA and live blogging, I will make sure to include very little real information and plenty of semi-amusing anecdotes, such as:

- The presence of Juan Valdez on the Scrappers' roster. Or maybe Juan Valdes. It's spelled two different ways. I'll get to the bottom of it.

- The Batavia Muckdogs are now affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals, not the Philadelphia Phillies.

- Jeff Hehr is a Cardinal Mooney High graduate AND a member of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

That last one has become a bit of a joke since he's been interviewed/photographed about 534 times in the last two weeks. So, in his honor, we are going to change Chuck Norris-isms to Jeff Hehr-isms. (And, as a further public service, we'd like to tell everyone that his name is pronounced "Hair," and not "Her.")

- When Jeff Hehr jumps into the ocean, he doesn't get wet. The ocean gets Jeff Hehr.

- Jeff Hehr's tears can cure cancer. Unfortunately, Jeff Hehr never cries.

- Jeff Hehr is suing NBC, claiming Law & Order are the names of his left and right legs.
