Boardman police investigate morning robbery

BOARDMAN — Police are investigating an armed robber that occurred in broad daylight at a U.S. Route 224 business.

A man was dropping his wife off at work shortly before 9 a.m. today at Cash Connection. As the man was about to leave, a man approached them holding a gun, said Police Chief Patrick Berarducci.

The gunman ordered both people inside of the business and told the woman to open the safe. He grew agitated when the woman told him that she couldn’t because of a time delay and threatened to shoot both the man and woman, the chief said.

The woman then opened the cash register and gave the robber about $2,300. The gunman then fled in an unknown direction.
