Barack Obama | The neighbors

BOARDMAN — Residents who live on Saddlebrook Drive say their quiet street isn't typically a place that receives any attention.

That changed today with a fundraising visit from presidential hopeful Barack Obama to the home of Herb Washington, who lives near the end of the street. The private event attracted dozens of vehicles and nearly all local media outlets to Saddlebrook.

Some residents stood in their driveways to catch a glimpse of Obama in the back seat of an SUV.

"It's not a problem at all, said Bob Bovara of 652 Saddlebrook. "It's good to see him come to the Valley. We can always use good publicity."

Bovara didn't know that Obama was visiting his neighbor until reading about it last week in The Vindicator.

"Most of the neighbors didn't realize he'd be here," he said.

George Jarbeck moved to 651 Saddlebrook a year ago.

"I didn't expect to move to a street that would have such an event," he said.

Jarbeck said he had thoughts about cashing in.

"If I charged $25 for parking, I could have made $300 and I could have shuttled them," he said.
