CHL Changes for 2007-08

Playoff format: Five teams from each conference will qualify for the Central Hockey League playoffs. This past season, six teams from each conference qualified.
Short series: The playoffs will begin with a best-of-3 series in each conference between the fourth and fifth seeds. The winner will advance to the second round against the top seed.
Realignment: The SteelHounds remain in the Northeast Division with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Memphis RiverKings. The other division member is the Texas (formerly Fort Worth) Brahmas, returning from a one-year hiatus.
The Tulsa Oilers shift from the Northeast to the Northwest, forming the only five-team division along with the Colorado Eagles, Oklahoma City Blazers, Rocky Mountain Rage and Wichita Thunder. In the Southern Conference, the Austin Ice Bats, Corpus Christi Rayz, Laredo Bucks and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees again will comprise the Southeast Division while the Southwest Division will feature the Amarillo Gorillas, Arizona Sundogs, New Mexico Scorpions and Odessa Jackalopes. The Lubbock Cotton Kings have been granted a suspension of operations for the 2007-2008 season.
