R&J Trucking wins 11th straight


John Madeline and Xavier Godoy led the 8-3 win
over Roth Brothers.

STRUTHERS — John Madeline had three hits and Xavier Godoy had two to lead R&J Trucking to an 8-3 win over Roth Brothers in a Class B League game Sunday at Cene Park.

R&J (15-2) has won 11 straight games. Joe Iacobucci, Joe Wielbruda and Madeline all had doubles.

Jeff Miller hit a double for Roth Brothers.

Rondinelli 8, Astro Falcons 7

Rondinelli scored with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning in the completion of a suspended game.

Tony Brunetti doubled with two outs and Matt Katich singled him home. Brunetti had four hits, including a pair of doubles. Cory Hitt added two doubles and a single and Cory Nesbitt had a double.

Joe Bako had three hits, including a double, and scored twice for Astro. Corey Susany and Mike Kelly both hit doubles.

Rondinelli 10, Astro Falcons 9

In a regularly-scheduled game, Rondinelli blew a 6-0 lead and almost gave away a 10-6 lead.

Brunetti had two hits and two RBIs for Rondinelli (14-3) and Tyrone Wright tripled and singled. Nesbitt also hit a triple, and Frank Rosile doubled. Tyler Gilmore got the win and Matt Katich picked up the save.

Mark Lapikas had three hits for Astro (12-5), and Joe Koch had two. Joe Bako and Mike Dota both hit doubles.

Action Physical Therapy 2

Jeremy Savaet pitched a complete game, allowing four hits.

Eric Pirtz, Andrew Grzebieniak and Mike Hoelzel all had two hits for Sugar. One of Pirtz’s was a double.

Jarryd Summers and Karl Swanson had doubles for Action.

Jeff Musick and Pirtz tripled to highlight a two-run rally in the sixth inning for Dave Sugar (9-8).

Mike Olenych (3-1) picked up the win and Dane Dobson earned his first save.

Livi Steel 12, Wharmby 8

Livi Steel scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a tie and improve to 9-7.

Josh Swepis, Garrett Malloy, Jae Leeworthy, Matt Kirkwood and Bobby Herberger all had two hits for Livi. Bobby Revesz and Kirkwood hit triples, while Herberger had a double. Garen Ream had three hits, including a double, for Wharmby (7-9), while T.J. Stoian and Cory Johnson hit triples.

R&J Trucking 7, Astro Falcons 5

R&J Trucking broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the top of the seventh inning and held off a rally in the bottom of the frame by the Astro Falcons to win a battle of division leaders Saturday night.

Joe Iacobucci drove home the first two runs in the seventh with his second hit, while Ed Rohan and Xavier Godoy also had a pair of hits for R&J (13-2).

Adam Sepesy went 6 plus innings for his second win.

Joe Koch had three hits, two of them doubles and scored four of the five Astro (12-3) runs. Joe Bako and Drew Turocy added two hits each.

Dave Sugar Excavating 11,
Livi Steel 2

Sugar (7-8) scored four times in the first, and three times in both the fifth and seventh. Justin Shaffer and Mike Hoelzel had three hits each, while Eric Pirtz add a pair of hits to support the four-hit complete game pitching of Rich Toal (2-1). Toal had nine strikeouts.

Youngstown Express 9,
Roth Brothers 5

A six-run third inning lifted Youngstown Express to its second win.

Zach Kepple drove home three runs with a bases-loaded double in the third for the Express (2-14). Greg Brown went five innings in relief for the win, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

Kevin Vellente and Adam Hall had two hits each for Roth (3-13).
