Eagle Scout rank achieved

Boy Scout Troop 40, chartered to St. Rose Church in Girard, announced that Jake Emery of Howland High School has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout project was designed to benefit the city of Girard Parks by installing five park benches in various areas of Liberty Park. Two benches, which bear dedications to his deceased grandparents, Vern Benke and Anna Emery, were constructed behind the Liberty Park Scout Cabin. Another bench dedicated to the memory of childhood friend, Cortney Rushwin, sits overlooking the lower ball field. The last two benches rest beside bocce courts. Jake began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub of St. Rose Pack 40 of Girard. While a Cub Scout, he earned his Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelo ranks. In addition, he received the highest award in Cub Scouting, the Arrow of Light, before joining Troop 40.
