Yankees 11, Mets 8

NEW YORK — Derek Jeter hit a go-ahead homer and finished with four hits, Alex Rodriguez added a home run and the Yankees beat the slumping Mets to leave Tom Glavine stuck on 295 wins. Robinson Cano and No. 9 batter Miguel Cairo each knocked in two runs, and the Yankees got a big effort from their bullpen in winning for the 10th time in 11 tries. The Yankees bounced right back after a 2-0 loss Friday night, breaking out with the bats and improving to 2-3 against their city neighbors this year. The NL East-leading Mets have lost 10 of 12 overall. The Mets mounted a rally against Mariano Rivera in the ninth and scored twice — the first runs he’s allowed in 10 appearances. Jose Reyes cut it to 11-8 with an RBI single, but Carlos Beltran popped up foul with the bases loaded for the final out. Making his fifth attempt at win No. 296, Glavine (5-5) failed to hold three early leads. He was tagged for seven runs and eight hits in four-plus innings, his second consecutive poor outing. Luis Vizcaino (3-1) replaced struggling rookie Tyler Clippard in the fourth and pitched 12⁄3 scoreless innings for the win. Scott Proctor, Kyle Farnsworth and Rivera held the Mets in check the rest of the way.

Blue Jays 7, Nationals 3

TORONTO — Vernon Wells homered and drove in a season-high four runs, Shaun Marcum struck out a career-high 11 over seven innings and Toronto won its third straight. Wells singled home a run in the first, hit a two-run homer in the third and drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth. Marcum (4-2) improved to 3-0 with a 2.38 ERA in seven starts since joining Toronto’s rotation on May 13.

Red Sox 1, Giants 0

BOSTON — Manny Ramirez ended a 50 at-bat homerless streak and Daisuke Matsuzaka struck out eight in seven innings. Barry Bonds went 0-for-3 with an intentional walk and remained stuck on 747 career homers, eight away from Hank Aaron’s record. Matsuzaka (8-5) won for the first time in four starts, holding the Giants to three hits and three walks. The Red Sox have scored just six runs in his last four outings, and overall they have scored two or fewer runs in eight of their last 11 games. Jonathan Papelbon pitched a perfect ninth for his 16th save for Boston.

Angels 3, Dodgers 0

LOS ANGELES — Jered Weaver won his fifth consecutive decision, Reggie Willits and Howie Kendrick keyed a two-out, three-run rally with RBI singles in the fifth inning and the Angels ended the Dodgers’ four-game winning streak. Weaver (6-3) allowed four hits in 51⁄3 innings, with four walks and three strikeouts to give the Angels’ rotation its major league-leading 38th win. Francisco Rodriguez struck out the side in the ninth for his AL-leading 22nd save in 23 chances.

Astros 9, Mariners 4

HOUSTON — Craig Biggio hit a three-run homer to back Woody Williams’ strong outing for Houston. It was the fourth straight loss for Seattle after a season-high five-game win streak. Williams (3-9) went 62⁄3 innings and allowed four runs and eight hits, striking out four and walking none. Williams retired 12 of the first 14 batters he faced.

Diamondbacks 8, Orioles 4

BALTIMORE — Scott Hairston hit the first of Arizona’s three home runs off Daniel Cabrera, and the Diamondbacks dealt Baltimore its seventh straight loss. Chris Young and Chad Tracy also connected for the Diamondbacks, who built a 5-0 lead in the third inning. Arizona starter Edgar Gonzalez, working on two days rest as a replacement for the injured Randy Johnson, allowed one run and two hits in five innings. Melvin Mora homered for the Orioles, with an assist from Young. The center fielder sprinted to the warning track in right-center to catch up to the ball, then had it bounce off his glove and over the wall.

Phillies 6, Tigers 3

PHILADELPHIA — Soft-tossing Jamie Moyer outpitched a prospect half his age and Aaron Rowand homered and singled in the go-ahead run for Philadelphia. Shane Victorino had three hits, including a solo homer, for the Phillies. Carlos Guillen and Curtis Granderson homered for the Tigers. Placido Polanco hit an RBI double off Antonio Alfonseca in the ninth and Detroit put two runners on before Alfonseca struck out Guillen and Ivan Rodriguez grounded out to end the game.

Reds 8, Rangers 4

CINCINNATI — Ken Griffey Jr. homered twice, snatching the spotlight from Sammy Sosa’s quest for No. 600 and leading Cincinnati to the win. Slumping David Ross also homered twice for Cincinnati, which scored all its runs off five homers. Sosa came into the game one homer shy of becoming the fifth player to reach 600. He went 0-for-5.

Brewers 5, Twins 2

MINNEAPOLIS — Dave Bush stopped a personal six-start winless streak, and Milwaukee won its fourth straight. Bush (4-6) baffled the Twins with his slow curveballs into the seventh inning, Bill Hall hit an RBI double, and Corey Hart broke the game open with a two-run single. Francisco Cordero got three outs for his major league-leading 25th save in 27 chances.

Marlins 9, Royals 8

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Miguel Cabrera homered twice and drove in four runs and Miguel Olivo went 5-for-5 in another big night against Kansas City. Olivo had two doubles and three singles, tying a club record one night after going 3-for-4. In 27 games against Kansas City for Seattle, the Chicago White Sox and the Marlins, he’s hitting .416 (37-for-89) with 22 RBIs. John Buck homered twice for Kansas City, raising his total to a team-leading 12.
