Saturday, June 16, 2007

YOUNGSTOWN — A Berkley Avenue man was in critical condition after being shot outside a Griffith Street apartment.

People who were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting early Friday told police that they heard several shots outside the apartment, and Lee Jones, 22, came inside wounded.

The apartment’s occupant told police that Jones was stopping by to use the restroom.

Lee was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center. Lee suffered two gunshot wounds to his back.

Lee reportedly described the vehicle whose occupants shot him as an older blue vehicle with a lot of rust.

Police found 10 9mm shell casings on Griffith, and an additional slug was found inside the apartment’s doorway.
