Youngstown city schools

The city school board will put a tax levy before voters in November to help overcome a general fund deficit. Total current school district real estate tax millage is 53.3 mills. The size of the proposed levy hasn’t been determined. Here are current tax bills for certain home valuations. Numbers are approximate:

$20,000 home: Current annual tax bill, $320; $6 per mill per year.

$65,000 home: Current annual tax, $960; $18 per mill per year.

$100,000 home: Current annual tax bill, $1,545; $29 per mill per year.
