City man arraigned for stealing telephone wires
YOUNGSTOWN — Police charged a 48-year-old man with theft and disruption of a public service after they say he stole telephone wires off of pole on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Police say they saw Kenneth Winphrieok of Thornton Avenue loading telephone wire into the back of a pickup truck about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Dana Lantz, an assistant city prosecutor, said the incident caused the entire North Side to lose telephone service for a day. Police also charged Winphrie with possession of drug paraphernalia saying he had a suspected crack cocaine pipe in his shirt pocket.
Judge Robert Milich of Youngstown Municipal Court arraigned Winphrie today and ordered him to be held in the Mahoning County Jail on $125,000 bond pending a June 25 preliminary hearing.
